George Lopez is Wanted after Escaping from Police Custody
Earlier today, the Belize Police Department issued a wanted posted for George Lopez, a fugitive of the law. The nineteen-year-old was on remand at the Belize Central Prison in Hattieville on a charge of murder. But he didn’t escape from behind prison walls; in fact, Lopez was transported to Dangriga for trial when he escaped from the Dangriga Police Station Cell Block this morning. C.E.O. at the Kolbe Foundation, Virgilio Murillo was asked about the escape and shared brief details as it is a police matter.

“If any of our personnel sees that guy, they are going to notify us and then we are going to find a way to recapture. But yes, he went for his trial in Dangriga and I just learnt that he escaped indeed from the police. So that will not be considered an escape from prison but really from police custody. So he escaped lawfully custody; that is pretty much what he did.”
Police say that anyone with information on his whereabouts are to call crime stoppers Belize at 922, use the P-Three App or report to the nearest police station.
