Port Authority Goes Digital; Post Office to Receive Upgrade
The Belize Port Authority, the agency that monitors marine vessels operating in our waters, is among the many government ministries and departments that are going digital. Minister of Public Utilities Michel Chebat says that the services of the post office are being reviewed to see how they can also be upgraded.

“We’re looking at how to make applications for boat licenses, captains’ licenses more easily accessible to the public. We’re looking at the water taxi system, how to improve it, how to improve security and safety for our passengers. So there’s a lot going on. I also have the post office as one of the portfolios that I manage and we’re looking at the post office on how can we modernize the post office, how can we make it more relevant to our citizens. These are all things that we’re looking at and we’re hoping that in the New Year we’ll be able to introduce to the Belizean public some innovation in that area as well.”
