Access to resources for enforcement is an issue that C.E.O. Doctor Osmond Martinez says his ministry is tackling through the Road Safety Project Two. They have also been working in partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing to repair roadways.
Dr. Osmond Martinez, C.E.O., Ministry of Economic Development
“Resources have been one of the limitations that countries like Belize with developing economy experience. So Belize is not alone in that cry, but the good will should be there and where there is a good will, there is a way. And that is what we are proving today that we are finding a way in how to get things done. The Ministry of Infrastructural Development and Housing and the new infrastructures that they are building or anywhere that they go and do rehabilitation of roads, road safety is number one priority. If you recall when there was the launch of the Remate Road under the CDB UK SIF program, one of the things that was highlighted from the prime minister, Minister Julius Espat and all the other cabinet members that were there was road safety.”
