Is the P.U.P. Behind the Move to Unseat Shyne as U.D.P. Party Leader?
According to Barrow, the move to unseat him via a recall convention is being brought about by influential persons within the People’s United Party who are intent on winning the 2025 general elections at all costs. But is it likely that parliamentarians within the U.D.P. are in collusion with this plan and is Delroy Cuthkelvin, who was recently expelled from the party, being used as a vehicle to push this agenda? Here’s Barrow’s perspective on the matter.
Shyne Barrow, Party Leader, U.D.P.
“There are external forces, in my view, P.U.P. special interests, who, in their vested desire to have a destabilized, divided U.D.P., will translate into a victory for the P.U.P. in the next general elections and that is what this is all about. And so, what do you do? You play on the selfish desires of people, you play on their ambitions, you play on their desperation and that is what has resulted in our current situation where six months ago I won the election. They all campaigned for who they wanted to campaign for, the people that voted for me voted for me and I would say that, what are we going to do, go back to another convention with the same two people? Let us respect democracy. Mr. Cutkelvin who brought in, I am surprised, it wasn‘t a very smart move on their part to have the person who has been campaigning against me since I got elected, literally the first week of my election he was paying for ads on Channel 7. And when I say special interest, P.U.P. special interest, where is Mr. Cutkelvin getting twelve thousand dollars a month to pay for ads? That’s the cost of ads that they run on Channel 7 alone, I don’t know if they run on the other stations. And he is the one that brings in the petition?”
