American Retiree is Latest Victim of San Ignacio Home Invasion

An elderly U.S. national living in San Ignacio is the most recent victim of a home invasion.  On Saturday, seventy-five-year-old Sheldon Dannelly was at home with a female friend when two gunmen entered his house and robbed them of approximately twenty-four thousand dollars in cash and items. These include a wallet containing three hundred U.S. dollars, as well as a small safe containing three thousand, six hundred U.S. dollars. A Samsung Galaxy cell phone and his 2004 green Honda Element vehicle were also stolen. Today, police confirmed that the cell phone and vehicle have been recovered and that the female who was in Dannelly’s company has been detained for questioning.

“Seventy-five-year-old American retiree reported that while at home with a female friend, two male persons entered his home and they robbed him of a wallet, they also took a vehicle valued at sixteen thousand dollars along with his safe which contained three thousand six hundred U.S. dollars and a cell phone, valued over six hundred dollars – all to a total value of twenty-four thousand dollars. So far, investigation led to the discovery of the vehicle and the cell phone. At this time, we have not made any arrests, but San Ignacio Police are investigating the matter. As soon as anything else comes up, we will have you informed.”
