Airport fire truck crashes on way to fire
In related news, while the Airport Fire Service provided much needed help in fighting the blaze, it did not come without cost. A second truck, which was on its way to the scene in Belize City never made it, having run off the road around mile six on the Northern Highway. Reports are that the truck, with lights and siren blazing, was overtaking a slower vehicle, when a car coming in the opposite direction failed to pull over. In order to avoid a collision the fully laden fire truck ran into the bush, which lines the bank of the Belize River. It is understood that the driver was injured and taken to the hospital.
