Southern Regional Hospital Received Medical Supplies

Health and Wellness Minister Kevin Bernard also gave an update on the complaints coming out of the Southern Regional Hospital as it relates to the acquisition of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals. He confirmed that on Tuesday the situation was resolved and it was simply a case of miscommunication.

“I reached out to Southern Regional Hospital for them to provide to me what was some of the issues that they were having. Now there was a miscommunication between the requisition being sent to CMS and CMS to the supplier. Those have been delivered so I can say here today that most of the requests that was sent in by Southern Regional Hospital, including Punta Gorda has been delivered yesterday. I got that notification yesterday morning; confirmed that medications. And like I said, let me point this out, the whole process of the tender cycle that occurred, signing at the end of August has also caused some delays. This is the reason why I took to cabinet three weeks ago a paper that will adjust that process and to see that in the next tender cycle that that is improved.”
