U.D.P Deputy Leader: It Is A Sad State of Affairs in the U.D.P.
While the factions within the U.D.P. that are at war accuse each other of not trying to unite, it seems that won’t be coming together any time soon. Even Deputy Leader, Hugo Patt told News Five today that the party is in a mess. Patt shared his view that there will be a time and a place to select a new leader of the party if the masses are not pleased with the current leader, but that now is not the time for that process. He also said that he thinks Collet Area Representative, Patrick Faber, should be reinstated on the party’s Central Executive Committee since he has removed all his Facebook posts that were in breach of the party’s constitution – the ones where he blasted the current leadership of the party.
Hugo Patt, Deputy Leader, U.D.P.
“It is a sad state of affairs in the U.D.P. I particularly am not one who likes to comment on these things, but one thing I don’t do is fight with my own party. At this point in time, I don’t think that we will have any form of unity in the short term, precisely because we cannot agree and so until the day that we can come to terms and say, “Look, let us agree to disagree,” then we will see a change, but at this point in time, I don’t think we’re at that – if you were going to ask me, I think we’re going to fight within ourselves. We just elected a leader. There will be a time when a convention will come, and then you allow those delegates to select a leader and a leadership. When that happens, respect the decision of those who voted. At this point in time, I don’t think that we should have any kind of recall. We will have a convention next year, so give some time, prepare whatever you have to prepare so that when the time comes for that convention, then whichsoever candidate wants to put their name in, then you have that person coming in and it’s going to be an open convention and those people will be allowed to campaign to the different delegates and whosoever does a better job, then that person becomes the new leader of the U.D.P. Mr. Faber is the longest-serving area rep of the U.D.P and my respect goes to him, so that whatever position he needs to hold in the party then I fully support it.”
