Belize City pool hall robbed
In crime news, an armed robbery overnight in Belize City has left one establishment considerably poorer and the police in hot pursuit of four alleged robbers. According to the officer commanding C.I.B. in Belize City, Eli Salazar, around ten thirty last night, four armed men walked into M.J.’s Pool and Bar on West Collet Canal and held up the bartender, twenty-one year old Leroy Jacobs. According to Salazar, the robbers, who wore handkerchiefs over their faces, made off with the contents of the cash register, totaling one thousand two hundred dollars. Police this afternoon rounded up a group of about fifteen youths from the Mayflower Street area of the city and took them down to the station on Queen Street for questioning. Up to news time, there was no report of any arrests in connection with the incident.
