I.M.F. Celebrates Belize’s Economic Recovery Says P.M. Briceño
Representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are currently in Belize. According to Prime Minister Briceño, the I.M.F. is impressed with the progress that Belize’s economy has made over the last financial year. P.M. Briceño says the I.M.F. has requested that Belize’s economic recovery efforts be used as a model for other countries to follow.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“The I.M.F. is here right now again. It is not for the article four. That is scheduled for February of next year. From all accounts I’m being told that it is going very well. The I.M.F. is happy about the progress being done. These are some of the best meetings we have had in more than twenty years. They are asking us to do a paper on how we managed to renegotiate or pay off the super bond and come up with the Blue Bond. They want to use that as an example for other countries to use around the world.”
