N.T.U.C.B. President Implores Health Minister to Meet with K.H.M.H. Union Leaders
President of the National Trade Union Congress of Belize, Luke Martinez, also weighed in on the situation at the K.H.M.H today. He told News Five that the union feels that there is not an urgency to address the health issue at the hospital. Martinez says he believes that the shortages in the public health sector go far beyond the K.H.M.H.

“This morning I saw a video in Cayo where it appears we have a shortage of even medical officers, so certainly we join that call in requesting the government to ensure that health be a priority – that it remains a priority when it comes to the development and the advancement of this country. So if our comrades at the K.H.M.H. are requesting that meeting, we’re imploring upon the Minister of Health to reach out and have that dialogue. Sometimes it’s just that one dialogue that could set the stage for us to achieve a lot more.”
