Faber Says He’s Going Nowhere!
During his press conference which was held at his constituency office on Antelope Street Extension, Faber criticized the composition of the Nominations Committee, the trio that vetted and subsequently rejected his application to run in Collet. He also emphasized that as a proud member of the United Democratic Party, he isn’t going anywhere and will not be kicked out of the constituency. He also touched on the failed petitions and the meddling that allegedly took place once the signatures had been turned over to the party secretariat last Friday.
Patrick Faber, Collet Area Representative
“You appoint a Nominations Committee which is made of three people who, oh my goodness, I don’t want to be unkind to my party brothers and sisters, but this lady Sherlett Martinez who is a failed village council candidate in my own home village of Lord’s Bank, another one from down south who is Ivan Williams’ daughter who could not win a village council election either, and a longstanding, I tell you, I don’t know how I could ever face Kevin Gonzalez again, somebody who I believe knows the history of this party and our struggle… These persons to say to me, and then the upper echelon of the party, the chairman and the leader of the party will say, well, it is solely those persons, we don’t have anything to do with it. That is utter nonsense The Nominations Committee. I said all of that to say this, and I will make it crystal clear that I am a U.D.P. and there is nobody, nobody, who is going to run Patrick Faber out of the United Democratic Party, nobody. I will also tell you that there is nobody who will run Patrick Faber out of the Collet Division except the people of the Collet Division. They have all right to do that and they give them an opportunity to do that every five or so years. We must ensure that the mechanisms of our democracy are working, as stipulated in that constitution. I said bring it on. My problem is that I may have trusted the chairman too much, Michael Peyrefitte, because he alone vetted those signatures. He alone, As the leader of the party, I never, ever saw those signatures come to my desk and say, “Party leader, what you think about it?” Fast-forward to their position, the minute the petition landed there, it was copied and sent to Shyne Barrow. It was copied and sent to John Saldivar who immediately started contacting people. They were busy over the weekend. It is a breach of confidence. The man who we are attempting to recall will get a hold of the signatures and he will go and call people. If I tell you how many people messaged me to say that they received threatening phone calls, to say that they received disrespectful messages and phone calls from Shyne Barrow, from John Saldivar, threatening them about their livelihood.”
