Bevans takes Mr. Belize title

Story Picture
Good evening, I’m James Adderley and here’s another serving of Sports Monday. The mighty Mr. Belize Body Building Contest produced a massive display of wall to wall muscle which brought the very best athletes to Parish Hall Saturday night.

But first here’s a look at the finalists in the junior division class of this body building blast. Mario Hernandez might be new to the sport, but he thinks his package is gold medal stuff. Roger Sutherland made waves with the fans for his display but the judges were more impressed with the chiseled stature of Deon Danderson and we say good show.

Talking about a good show, the Miss Fitness Contest locked Josephine August and Lurnette Sankey in a head on collision. Josephine shows her moves in a final bid to impress the judges. However, check this routine by Lurnette Sankey. It’s rough people and I know a lot of you guys haven’t reached this level of physical development. Nevertheless the clincher might have come in the bath suit action where the experience of Lurnette Sankey gave her the title. And for Lurnette the package is crucial.

But now the big guys are out to capture the big time Mr. Belize Body Building title of 1998 and when we say wall to wall muscle we mean it. Dillon Jones is buff, no doubt, as we dig into his routine and the judges award him fourth place for this finish. Meanwhile Gilroy Nembhard had the most vocal fans; his routine was a show stopper also. Unfortunately for him the powers that be concluded he deserved third place. For Joseph Obispo, the big “W” was the main objective after being locked out of the crown in recent years. For his effort he takes the runner up spot.

By now you know it’s no surprise who the winner is as we vibe in on his gold medal performance. Even in the seven man pose down Rushiel Bevans is a standout and when the verdict comes Rushiel Bevans is Mr. Belize 1998. He wins for a second straight year and we say congratulations.

In football news, B.F.L. action over the weekend side Yabra Sporting Club stung Real Verdes 2-1 at the M.C.C. Grounds, while the Belmopan Bandits rallied pass Juventud Benqueña 2-1.

That’s it. Jah over all. I’m James Adderley.
