Meanwhile, over in San Pedro, while the vast majority of residents decided to battle it out on the island, Mayor Gualberto Nunez told News Five today that they were not taking the storm lightly.

“We see a lot of stores quite busy, so people are buying their goods, preparing with water, and preparing their homes. We can see some places being bolted down or shutters going up. So we can see that people are preparing themselves, which is really good. We are asking everybody that come to the shelters to bring adequate amounts of food and water supply. We will not leave anybody behind but we would want everybody to plan ahead and to bring their own products because anywhere we are it’s not going to be the best of comfort. I know a lot of people are staying at home but we are encouraging people to seek better homes that withstand the storm and not stay in low-lying areas.”
