Concerned Mom Says Her Son Can Prove His Innocence

The concerned mother told us that in addition to all the inconveniences and health risks that she feels her son is currently enduring being in custody, she knows he will prove himself innocent of the allegation because he was at home with her when the hurricane struck Belize. She said that when the twenty-seven-year-old left home, he went to help his in-laws to clean up.

“I have alibis weh my son mi deh. Whole ah the hurricane my son sleep eena my bed. Me sleep eena my daughter bed, my son sleep and my grandbaby sleep eena my bed whole through the black out until Sunday.  Saturday morning when my son get up, my son goh outta Butter Cup weh ih girlfriend deh and ih mother-in-law deh. Saturday when I gone outta Butter Cup, my son di wash ih mother-in-law chair weh hurricane messed up. Cut down the post and things outta the tree weh the zinc and everything blow off. Ih goh out deh goh help dehn. He works tour guide with my son-in-law. He works, da nuh like ih nuh work but tour guide season nuh deh in right now fi tourists soh he goh out da ih mother-in-law and they pay him to do work for them. Dehn put that pahn he because dehn she he come in late at night with a loud music. Weh wa loud music got fi do with breaking eena wa house? I raise my sone deh eena the heart ah gangs – Gill Street and T Street and none ah my sons deh nuh have no record, my three sons were no gang nobody. Soh my son deh nuh into – dehn nuh even have a police record.”

This evening police informed our newsroom that Ashton Moody has been released from custody with no charges.
