Man Remanded on Attempted Murder Charge
A man is in the remand section of the Belize Central Prison tonight after he was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrates’ Court on a charge of attempted murder. Charles Egbert West was shuttled away one day after he celebrated his thirty-eighth birthday. Police allege that at around nine on Saturday night near Mile thirteen on the George Price Highway, West, a resident of Los Lagos community, stabbed Keith Nicholson and William Taibo. He has since been charged with attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm upon Nicholson, and one count of wounding upon Tiabo. West reportedly exited a store on the night in question when he became embroiled in an argument with the two men. During the argument, he armed himself with a knife and stabbed the two men. His next court date is set for January ninth, 2023.
