An Attempted Abduction is Foiled in Belize City
Belize City police are investigating an incident that took place this morning where a female high school student was almost abducted as she walked to school in the vicinity of Neal Pen Road and Central American Boulevard. Details of the alleged incident were shared in a Whatsapp group sometime following the event. Here are the audio clips from a concerned parent, as well as an officer who responded to the query being made.
“This is Deja’s mom. Ms. Gamboa, I just got a call from a high school that there was a van that tried to kidnap one of their students this morning. The van is a black tinted van. The student was saying that they were putting her in the vehicle and at the same time somebody came. So they let her go. I’m just putting this there so you can inform your students and parents to be on the lookout. It’s a black tinted van. I also get to understand that yesterday, I think in Orange Walk, there was a similar van who tried to kidnap another child.”

“Good afternoon, this is ASP Gamboa again. This is a follow-up on the last information I passed on reference the attempt or alleged kidnapping. CIB officers have interviewed the child in the presence of her parents and the child was really shaken up and doesn’t really want to go in-depth, however, the child is saying that this occurred at 88 Shopping Center that is located corner [Neal] Pen Road and Central American Boulevard by the stoplight. She is saying that she was coming to school this morning when she was approached from behind. Occupants of the vehicle were two dark complexion male persons and the van is black and tinted and at this time this is all we have. The matter has now been transferred to Precinct One where the incident occurred. Presently, police are investigating the matter, trying to view cameras in the area.”
