Grocery store robbed in Buttonwood Bay

In crime news, two female workers at Homer Dakers Grocery Shop in Buttonwood Bay received minor injuries during a robbery at the store around eight, Wednesday night. According to Irimay Curlin, the store’s manager, she was checking the night sales in a cash pan, when a short, dark skinned man, wearing blue jeans pants and shirt, entered the store, walked up to the counter and asked for a juice. Shortly after, an argument erupted, when the man could not make up his mind as to what drink he wanted. Finally, Curlin said the customer ordered a box of raisins, paid and waited for his change. But after receiving the money, the man pulled out a butcher knife and held it up to Joy Belezaire, the cashier and said, “Watch ya gial, give me all your money.” Belezaire, who then surrendered, was grazed across her hands as she put them up. But before the assailant could get any money from the cash register, Curlin said his attention was turned to the cash pan she was holding and as he made a move towards her, she made a run for it. However Curlin did not get far, as she received a knife slash to the back and dropped the pan. The money, which spilled across the floor, was quickly collected by the robber. He then fled the scene along with his male accomplice, who was waiting outside. As the men fled, the security guard from the nearby Friendship Restaurant fired two shots, but failed to stop the fleeing bandits. A total of one thousand dollars was robbed from the store. According to C.I.B., one person has been detained in connection with the incident.
