Police Recover Firearms Stolen from Former Commissioner’s House

Police have recovered several guns that were stolen from the residence of the former Commissioner of Police, Allen Whylie in Lemonal. The firearms were discovered in two different locations, one in the same village where Whylie resides, and three additional weapons were found further north in Orange Walk. Of note is that earlier this week, police had detained a resident of Lemonal whose mother, Danna Bull, came to us on Tuesday.  She alleged that her son was being denied medical attention, to undergo necessary lab tests and a consultation with his doctor for an existing health condition. Police released her son later that day, having filed no charges against him. And while Deputy Head of the National C.I.B, Superintendent Gerald Jones, says there is a Lemonal resident detained, Bull told us this evening that that person is not her son.

“Police have since recovered three of the firearms in the bi-pass area by Orange Walk, within the Orange Walk jurisdiction and one next to the mother-in-law’s residence within Lemonal Village. We have one person detained pending charges for the offence committed. These firearms are in police custody and we’re doing the necessary charges. We know that he’s a resident of the said village. I’m not too certain if he’s a person who knows the layout of the residence of Mr. Whylie. However, we did in fact did our investigation and that led to him being detained. In the initial phase we received a report of a burglary in the Lemonal Village area at the residence of Mr. Whylie who was out of the country at the time when this situation occurred.”

Meanwhile, in another search in the San Juan area, San Pedro, Jones said police found a gun and a magazine stashed in a ziplock bag that was in a washing machine. No one was in the area and the find was taken in as found property.
