PC Herman Ramos Charged with Perverting the Course of Justice

A policeman was arraigned today in the Belize City Magistrates’ Court on a charge of Perverting the Course of Justice. It follows an alleged incident outside of an establishment on Newtown Barracks two weeks ago when the policeman reportedly took away a man’s gun and kept it in his possession.  Police Constable Herman Ramos is accused of taking away and keeping a handgun belonging to Mervin Domingo on the night of Friday, October twenty-eighth, 2022. Domingo had reportedly discharged his nine millimeter Glock brand pistol in public and Ramos stepped in. Today, he was read the charge but was not required to enter a plea, as per the request of the Prosecutor pending further instructions from his superior on the matter. The magistrate granted the request and offered Ramos bail of two thousand dollars, plus one surety of the same amount, which he met. His next court date is set for January twelfth, when the prosecution is expected to disclose the evidence against him.
