Story Picture
While some students are heading back to the classrooms this week, eight youths are leaving classes after a year of studies. The Conscious Youth Development Programme is holding graduation ceremonies at the Bliss Institute this evening, for students successful in this year’s Literacy Program. The program, which started in 1995, is offered as a part of the Ministry of Education’s National Literacy Campaign. According to C.Y.D.P.’s Education Liaison Officer, Douglas Hyde, the program offers the students academic challenges and personal development.

Q: “How successful has it been in the past three years?”

Douglas Hyde

“We have a lot of success. We have at least ten or fifteen youths graduating from the program in the past three years and it’s moving up. It’s going on very progressively.”

Students interested in signing up for this year’s Literacy Program, starting in September, are asked to contact C.Y.D.P.’s office at 72453 by September ninth.
