The Belize Bureau of Standards held a soft launch today for the Belize Energy Efficiency Labeling Scheme (BEELS). As a CARICOM member state, Belize was selected to participate in a pilot energy efficiency labeling scheme for refrigerators, air conditioners, and lighting. In fulfilling this commitment, the Belize Bureau has embarked on the implementation of its EELS pilot scheme with an initial focus on refrigerators and freezers. A ceremony was held in Belize City this morning.
