Musa says Esquivel must consult on high court appointment
Attorney General Barrow may also face some tough opposition on another one of his pet projects: the appointment of a new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He announced on Wednesday that Manuel Sosa would be elevated to the post and all the paperwork would be completed before the election. Today in a press release P.U.P. leader Said Musa said, “not so fast”. Musa claims that he only received a fax concerning the proposed appointment from Prime Minister Esquivel on Thursday and that under the constitution he must be given a genuine opportunity to be consulted and discuss the matter with the P.M. Musa’s letter invites Esquivel to meet with him at his earliest convenience. Viewers are advised that the odds of any such meeting taking place are slim, about as slim as chances that the appointment will be blocked by any constitutional considerations.
