Chunox Fisherman Busted with Conchs in Conservation Zone
Twenty-four-year-old Nicholas Trapp, a fisherman of Chunox Village, appeared unrepresented before the lower court today where he was charged with a single count of fishing in a conservation zone. It is alleged that on November eleventh, he was caught fishing within the Blackbird Caye Conservation Zone. In his possession were nineteen conchs inside a canoe. Earlier today, he wasted no time pleading guilty and a non-custodial sentence, a fine of two thousand dollars was handed down. He was fined an additional fifty dollars per conch, amounting to nine hundred and fifty dollars for the harvest that was found in his possession. Trapp has until May thirtieth, 2023 to pay the initial fine and until February twenty-eighth, 2023 to pay the additional fine or in default he will serve six months in prison.
