Where is Patrick Faber in the U.D.P.?
Collet Area Representative Patrick Faber has been frozen out of his constituency by his own party, notwithstanding his track record as a five-time parliamentarian. The row between the former party leader and the U.D.P. executive has resulted in a relative newcomer being fielded as standard bearer for that division. But where does Faber stand in the mix of it all? Today, U.D.P. Chairman Mike Peyrefitte weighed in on the Faber fiasco which has gone somewhat dormant in light of the John Saldivar designation.
Mike Peyrefitte, Chairman, United Democratic Party
“I think a lot of that depends on Patrick Faber. I think even Ian Jones had made it clear at one time that he would be willing to step back. Listen, listen, without saying too much. I believe that the party did everything to make sure that we could make amends with everybody in terms of moving the party in a single direction as a unified force. I don’t think that there is anymore that we could have done. All I will say is this, generally speaking. If a person wants to be a part of an organization then they have to act like they want to be part of an organization. You cannot disrespect an organization then turn around and expect that an organization will make accommodations for you. That’s just nature. So where he stands with the UDP, I believe, depends a lot on him.”
