One detained in Free Zone burglary

The quick thinking of a security guard in the Corozal Free Zone Compound has foiled what appears to have been an attempted robbery. According to police, the security guard observed three men trying to enter a warehouse on the compound, after they had cut through the wire fence. The incident happened sometime between eight and nine o’clock Sunday night. According to Crispin Jeffries, the security guard abandoned his post and called the police who quickly arrived on the scene, but not before the would-be robbers, whose numbers by this time had swelled to over ten, were able to flee the scene. One of the fleetfooted men was identified, however, and he was picked up on Monday morning and is now in police custody awaiting the outcome of further investigations.
