Saldivar, Shyne and the Public’s Perception

John Saldivar

During his appearance on Rise and Shine, Saldivar compared his public image with that of his party leader. Saldivar said, the Caucus for Change made a conscious decision not to let the public’s perception guide its decision to support Moses “Shyne” Barrow as their leader. Saldivar questioned why he has not been afforded the same level of leniency. Here is how he puts it.

John Saldivar, Former Belmopan Area Representative

“We made a conscious decision not to let the perception of Shyne Barrow rule our decision. There were people who felt that because of his past, his connection to his father and the legacy that some people thought that his father left that he was not the person for us to pick as leader. We as the Caucuas for Change did not allow that perception to guide us. We fought against that perception. He won by three votes. So, it is obvious there is a significant amount that fell for that perception. But the majority did not fall for that perception and that needs to be clearly said without trying to impute our party leader or anything. We need to say that very clearly. The reason he is the party today is because the Caucus for Change did not fall for the perception, yet my party today is being asked to fall for the perception, truth in my view and I have said this over and over, truth must always trump perception.”
