Second suspect charged in Orange Walk murder

And while we’re on the subject of follow-ups, Orange Walk police have reported the arrest of another suspect in the chopping death of Marco Cruz last week. Forty-two year old Mexican national Arturo De La Cruz Hernandez now joins thirty-two year old Guatemalan Rene Trochez charged with the crimes of murder and conspiracy. These charges result from an incident on the San Lorenzo road on the night of August first in which three armed and masked men are reported to have gone to Cruz’s home, wanting him to accompany them to a neighboring village to buy drugs. When Cruz refused, he was reportedly chopped in the head and later died of his injuries. A third suspect is being sought by police.
