Public Should Not Be Deprived of “True Ownership Access”, Says Minister Musa
Musa was also asked if such access would be frowned upon by the I.B.C.’s since both local and international companies are now merged into one system. Here is how he responded.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
“I can’t say that it will necessarily be frowned upon. I would have to see it put in place and in practice. It, I am sure, is similar to other jurisdictions in terms of access, but the intention should not be to deprive us of true ownership access. That should be something for us to determine and for members of the public to have that type of information as well.”

“Did this particular matter come to Cabinet before it was implemented because this business registry system was launched November twenty-eight and as far as we are aware is active? The secrecy is now in place.”
Kareem Musa,
“Like I said, I wouldn’t classify it as secrecy the way you are. I am not in practice so I haven’t done a company search to see the distinction that is now in existence as it was before. So, you would have to ask an attorney to make that distinction for you because they are actually practicing to see what the difference is. Like I said, I haven’t done it but I will certainly inquire to see if there is that difference in terms of the type of information you are getting out.”
