How Will the Media Be Allowed to Investigate Fake Companies?
The Online Companies Registry should provide ease of access to registered companies and business owners, but it should not create any kind of ease for people who want to engage in fraudulent businesses. President of the Belize International Financial Services Association, Reynaldo Magana says it takes a few in-depth procedures to license a company, and Santiago Gonzalez said the information can be had if the media makes the request to investigate a suspicious or fake company.

“There is a very rigourous process to get a license, so vetting, compliance, everything is going to be checked out. You’re going to be scrubbed down I’m quite sure, from the F.S.C. so in getting a license to anybody who wants to just do mischief like that, I believe it’s going to be a very hard process.”
Santiago Gonzalez, Deputy Registrar, Belize Companies & Corporate Affairs Registry
“I work with the Attorney General and they have a specific way of requesting information an even from us from the Registry. There is a specific way they go and “this is what we would like and this is the reason why we would like it.” So for me, that’s the perfect way of doing it. We know that the legal entity, this is what I want, and this is what is happening; that’s the way I’m thinking.”
