Case dismissed against Taiwanese
With all the political commotion in the Chief Magistrate’s courtroom we almost missed a ruling that would otherwise be front-page news. We have not seen the official report but it appears that the high profile case against a number of Taiwanese defendants accused of forging immigration documents has been dismissed. The reason appears to be the failure of the police to turn over certain key evidence to the defense as ordered by the Magistrate. At the time of the initial arrests the police high command put on a major press conference to boast of their tough new attitude toward this type of crime.
