Two fires destroy buildings in south

Around the same time as Juarez crashed in San Juan, a fire was destroying a building and generator at the big mango farm near Monkey River. The General Manager of Tropical Produce Company Laila Mehlum told police that she saw smoke coming from the twenty five by twenty five foot shed housing the farm’s light plant. By the time the flames were extinguished, the generator valued at fifteen thousand dollars and the shed valued at five thousand dollars had been completely gutted. While the company will be able to recuperate its loss from a twenty thousand dollar insurance policy, forty-three year old saw mill operator Joseph Augustine of Seine Bight Village will have no such luck. According to Augustine, he left home at seven o’clock on Thursday morning but when he returned that evening it was to find his eight by twenty five foot wooden house on fire. Both the building and its contents, valued at a little over twenty thousand dollars were destroyed. No one was at home at the time of the fire and the house was not insured.
