Scratch & Win Player Collects $20 Gs in Time for Christmas
This Christmas, a fisherman is ecstatic that his investment in the Scratch and Win Games paid off and he has the money to purchase the outboard engine he has wanted to get for his boat. Scratch & Win has been offering scratch tickets in one, two, five, and ten dollar denominations, but as Director Alex Gamero told us, the three-dollar ticket is a relatively new offering. And it could not have come at a better time for Martin, who told us that it wasn’t until he tried the very first three-dollar ticket that his luck changed with a twenty thousand dollar jackpot.
Martin, Scratch Ticket Winner
“Wa friend mi gone buy this fi me and I mi just give he wa cash and (said) “yow, try a lee luck fi mi mein,” and he come with the winning ticket. But he run a joke first. He seh, “Martin, chiney bwai nuh want scan this ticket, bwai. Hold ya.” I seh, “bwai weh kinda craziness you di talk bout” and that right deh. I just stop it. That was it. Twenty thousand! I wa finish renovate over mi house and buy wa boat engine. Ih come in good because ah nuh have to goh da no banking institution nor nothing fi borrow no money fi owe nobody.”
Alex Gamero, Director, Scratch & Win
“This is a new three-dollar ticket called Loteria. It’s based on the board game Loteria. A lot of us in Belize knew this game as Chaloopa. And it’s exactly the same game, except on a scratch ticket and Martin just won twenty thousand dollars on this game this morning. In this case, he formed a diagonal line and that diagonal line won him twenty thousand (dollars). But then you can form vertical lines, horizontal lines, and depending on which line you get is how much you’re gonna win. For example, here he has the arrows and then down here are the arrows so when it matches you scratch off that yellow layer so it basically allows you to know what you matched. We have tickets at different price points. Each price point offers something different. So, for example, we have one-dollar tickets, we have two-dollar tickets, three-dollar tickets, five-dollar tickets, ten-dollar tickets and usually the higher the denomination the bigger the prizes you can win and also the easier it is to win bigger prizes. So three-dollar tickets is just that price point where it’s in between the two-dollar ticket and the five-dollar ticket.”
