Akeem Augustine is Missing Since Christmas Day
Another Belize City man is missing and hasn’t been heard from since Christmas Day when he left for a house party in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. It is unlike twenty-seven-year-old Akeem Augustine to leave home and not get in touch with his family. Tonight, his loved ones fear the worst. It has been a little over three days and Augustine, also known as Cummins, was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, black three-quarter pants and a pair of black Nike slippers. This morning, News Five spoke with Augustine’s sister-in-law who said that they have been receiving various leads about the whereabouts of his remains.

“Christmas Day was the last time, the last day that we actually saw him and it was around twelve in the afternoon that he was speaking to my sister and telling her that he was going to a party with a friend in the Jane Usher area. So I was the last one speaking to him and he told me that he was going with a friend and he mentioned three names to us, and we tell ahn, weh he gwein go do eena da area weh he noh belong and we hear a lot about the area. Soh he da like, well back ya boring, whiching it was Christmas Day and around here was really actually boring, nobody noh come out and stuff. We walk up and he jump eena wah taxi and seh that he di come back and that was the last time I heard from him. And my sister went out with her baby and when she came back, she asked if I sih Cummins and I tell ahn, no. That was after nine and she said, he just text ahn like after five soh and tell ahn ih di come home, but nothing. Ih noh come home or nothing, and she call, text, call, text and we even called back the person he was with and to no avail.”

“What we are hearing, people are contacting us, my sister and myself, saying that he’s dead and how mek we go dig up the body. You know, they gave us clues, like weh dehn wahn dump ih body and stuff and people even open fake profile, call us offa unknown number, di call and di threaten us and di tell us all kinda thing, but at the end of the day we noh really know what really di happen because like weh we di tell our sista, noh get ih hopes up, because like weh dehn seh, ih noh come home three days now and dis da noh usually he, right. So everybody just wahn know weh exactly ih deh. Now we are getting ready to go to eight miles, one of the location that they gave us, to go and look for him.”
According the family, messages have been sent informing them that Augustine’s disappearance is related to the recent double homicide of Cleon Smith Jr. and Kendale Ramirez. In October 2021, Akeem Augustine was arrested and charged for the murder of Ian Westby, who was found shot to death inside a vehicle at a car wash in Belize City.
