Still Haven’t Paid Your Trade License? Come Next Week, You’ll Be Operating Illegally

Bernard Wagner

The bustle of the holiday season sometimes causes us to forget those very important legal obligations that permit businesses to remain open. So in all of the chaos, if you forgot to pay your trade license fees, well it is due on December thirty-first. And since today was the last working day for 2022, well come January second when you reopen for business, you’ll be operating illegally, unless you hurry on over to pay at CitCo’s office or do so online. Today, Mayor Bernard Wagner explained just how very important those fees are in allowing the Council to carry out its duties.

Bernard Wagner, Mayor, Belize City

“You know trade license is due the thirty-first of December is the deadline and so we urge all business owners to come in and renew their trade license. It’s very important if you want to continue to do business in the city, that is a part of the law. When you don’t comply with the law then you are breaking the law and I believe all our business owners are law-abiding citizens. So we encourage them to continue to make the effort to come in and pay their trade.”
