Peace Walk and Prayer Vigil to Be Hosted in Belmopan

Belmopan Mayor Sharon Palacio is partnering with Pastor Richard Smith to host a peace rally and prayer vigil in Belmopan on Thursday evening. Both events are being hosted in light of the recent murders in the Capital City. We spoke with Mayor Palacio and Pastor Smith via Zoom today about the planned event.

“This event calls for even more unity and to come together as a community and show exactly how we are feeling. So, there is what we call a peace walk that will be connected to a rally. The peace walk begins in the Maya Mopan Area and will depart from the Sir Andy Johnson Field where we will have candles and messages and so on. We will depart from there en route to the Sir. George Brown Field, where I will hand over the group that walked to pastor Smith so you can take over.”

“Basically what we are looking at is having a joint worship and prayer ministry time. When something like this happens, everybody is shocked. Some people have nightmares just watching that video. So, they need to be ministered to, pray. We are asking all the pastors to come out, to be there. WE will set them on the side lines. People can go to them while the rally is going on to be prayed for and minister to them in needs that they are. We are looking at tomorrow night as a time to rebuild that confidence among our people, because, unless the Lord watch over the house, the watch man watches in vein. So, we need to reinstate that core value that we have and say 2023 that is how we are going to take off.”
