Pickstock Area Rep’s Big Vision for 2023
In late December, we caught up with Anthony Mahler, the Area Representative for Pickstock, where we asked him about the plans he has in place to further develop his constituency. Well, according to Mahler there is a lot in the pipeline for 2023. He told us about his team’s plan to build thirty-six houses in the coming months, as well as plans to establish a soap making factory in Pickstock.
Anthony Mahler, Area Representative, Pickstock
“For me, quality of lifestyle is my focus in Pickstock. So, I have used the community development fund and other resources to ensure that we have paved and cemented at least five or six streets in Pickstock already, Mahogany Street, Mopan Street, Ebony Street, Morning Glory and we are going to do more in this new fiscal. We are helping after the hurricane to build thirty-six homes. Those are not going to be this kind. They are going to be the Mennonite homes but much better than what was there before. But, that is in process right now. So, within the next few months we will give the keys to thirty-six homes for people in the Pickstock division. We are working on a factory that is going to make shampoo, soap, conditioner, facial products. So, right next to WASA you will see a sign going up called Hope Center, the factory has been delivered and it will be set up in January and it will hire about twenty to twenty-five people for the area to make those things. Why are we importing from China, and Mexico and those other places when those things can be bottled and made right here.”
Minister Mahler says one of his objectives is to connect these Belizean made products to the tourism industry.
