Still No Charges in Murder of Michael “Itza” Williams

In the murder of Michael Williams, who was also shot and killed in the Maya Mopan area of Belmopan on December twenty-seventh, 2022, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams initially told reporters that his death was believed to be drug-related. On January third, he also told reporters at a press conference that the department believes that the same suspect who shot and killed the Ramnarace brothers may have also been the person who executed Williams a few nights earlier. So where are investigators with that case? That’s what the Leader of the Opposition is asking tonight.

“Is there any connection between the previous murder in Belmopan, Michael Williams, and what transpired on Saturday night?”

“We believe that they are connected, yes, that it’s the same perpetrator [that] did both of them. In the matter involving Michael “Itza” Williams and the fact that he was slain in Belmopan on the twenty-seventh of December, charges have not been brought against anyone, notwithstanding the fact that the Commissioner of Police mentioned that perhaps Elmer Nah is a suspect or a person of interest who would have been involved in that matter.”

“He said [that] he suspected that it was the same perpetrator and again, I call on the Commissioner of Police to take action.  Open the investigation to Fareed Ahmad, put everything together again with a special investigative body that is beyond reproach.  Follow through.  If you think that Corporal Nah, again his words, is the same perpetrator, okay where are we with that?  I would ask you to call him after you finish with me and ask him, “Where are you with charges being laid on Corporal Nah for the murder of Michael Williams?”  We have to take action.”
