Police Investigates Alleged Home Invasion in Belmopan

On Monday night, we shared the story of a pair of elderly brothers from Belmopan who claim that their home in the Maya Mopan community was burglarized and that two hundred and fifty thousand dollars was taken from their home. They also allege that several police officers were involved in the crime. To date, no charges have been levied upon anyone for the alleged incident. On Wednesday night, the Commissioner of Police informed reporters via text that, “I can confirm that an official report was filed yesterday and police are currently investigating to verify if in fact the incident indeed happened. The persons named in the complaint are currently detained and are being interviewed. So far they are denying their involvement in any such crime. Nonetheless the investigators are conducting interviews with the neighborhood to verify certain information”. We continue to follow these reports.
