Suspects named in Placencia murder
It comes four days after the outrageous hold up and murder at the Singing Sands Inn on the Placencia Peninsula, but police have announced a major breakthrough in their investigation. They have made a positive I.D. of at least two suspects and have released the photograph of a boat, believed to have been used as the getaway craft. Those being sought to answer for July fifth crimes are thirty-seven year old Norman Andrew Martin and forty-seven year old Glenford Westby, while twenty-six year old Timothy Carcamo is being asked to provide the police with some much needed information. If their names sound familiar that’s because they are. Police say all three men have been convicted of numerous crimes, including drug trafficking and theft. Armed with handguns and a rifle, three men robbed seven patrons of Singing Sands of money and personal items valued at over twenty three thousand dollars. They then proceeded to shoot dead forty-seven year old U.S. national Raymond Kirk in the presence of his twelve year old son and wife. Police believe that the men, all of whom are considered dangerous, may have fled to either Honduras or Guatemala and have enlisted the cooperation of their counterparts in these countries to bring them to justice. A red and white boat fitting the description of the vessel in which the men fled the scene, was discovered abandoned at Laughing Bird Caye and is presently undergoing forensic examination.
