Ramnarace Family Supports Call for Independent Investigator and Prosecutor
According to Pascacio, the entire family is at a loss as to why anyone would want to target Vivian, her husband and brother-in-law. Pascascio says that the family supports the call for an independent prosecutor and investigator to be involved in the case, as they continue to question whether their loved ones will receive justice.
Deon Pascasio, Relative of Vivian Ramnarace
“We are kind of disappointed from the standpoint of finding that it was a police officer charged for this heinous crime. We are ok with the communication at this time. But from our stand point there are questions in the back of our minds which is normal, especially when we look at all that has been surfacing, that this particular individual, the alleged perpetrator has been charged and has been involved in several differ incidents and crimes and has been able to walk away from every one of them. That is cause for concern but I also want to say here, while I say that, while we have our questions about the system where the police are concerned, we know that there are some very good and upstanding police officers in the force. So, in no way, shape, or form, will we throw the entire force under the bus? But, we are hoping that they would go about it the right way.
Everybody in this situation wants justice and we are cautiously optimistic that we will get justice from a physical human standpoint because we know that there are sometimes loopholes in the system and people walk not because they are not guilty but because of technicalities. Do you believe or does the family believe that there is a need for a wider, independent investigation? Of course, we like families who find themselves in these situations would want to rally for something like that, because if it involves those within the department then it is something you want some independent international investigator to be investigating to get more objectivity on both sides.”
Vivian and Jon’s five year old daughter is now in the care of the family. Pascasio says she is receiving the best care and attention at this time.
