Bicyclist dead in traffic knockdown

A night out in the Orange Walk District has ended in tragedy for a twenty-three year old laborer of August Pine Ridge Village. According to police reports Omar Ku was riding his bike towards his village in the Orange Walk District shortly after one Saturday morning, when upon reaching the village entrance, a pickup truck driven by thirty nine year old Vicente Murillos, a laborer of the same village, came from behind and knocked Ku from off of his bicycle. Ku sustained severe head and body injuries and died on the spot. Police say that the area where the incident took place is well lighted and they are awaiting the results of blood samples taken from Murillos to determine if he had been drinking. In the meantime he has been charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
