Police Department Commits to Successfully Prosecuting Nah Case

Elmer Nah

With the passing of Vivian Ramnarace, a third victim in the fatal December thirty-first attack, many are questioning the strength of the witness statement that was given to investigators prior to her death last Sunday.  According to ComPol Williams, the police department remains committed to working the case with a view to successfully prosecute the matter.  Insofar as the upgraded charge to be brought against the alleged gunman, Elmer Nah, the Commissioner of Police says that there is a likelihood that the department will seek the assistance of another prosecutor from within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“We are not giving up.  All is not lost and just today, again, I met with the investigators and I gave them further instructions in terms of some work that I want them to do to enhance the evidence on file.  Again, I am not going to say what those works are, but I gave them some tasking today.  I have been reviewing the file to constantly see where they are with the investigation and give direction as to what needs to be done until we can find that special prosecutor who will then take over and guide the investigation.  And I am pretty confident that we do have sufficient still, absent Vivian [Ramnarace], to successfully prosecute Elmer Nah. When the time comes to upgrade the charges, we are going to do so either with the assistance of the DPP, or the DPP is not a person does not have other counsels.  There are many senior counsels in her office.  You have Mr. Ramirez, you have Ms. Shaneiza Smith, who can advise and so if there is a need for us to advise or to seek advice from one of them, then we are going to do just that.”
