P.M. Briceño Lays into Former Prime Minister Barrow Over Boledo Contract

Countach is an offshore concern registered in George Town, Grand Cayman with shares in Brads Gaming Group Limited.  Earlier today, P.M. Briceño had a go at his predecessor for purportedly giving the company control of the Government Lottery.

“How can you give the Belize Boledo to an offshore company?  Who are the beneficiaries of that company?  That is what… I mean he should be ashamed to say something like that, but he could enact anything that he wants.  We are a country and we live by rules of law and if the company is not living up to the commitments, it could have been the King of England that is an owner, has ownership on that, it does not matter, you are not living up to the commitments.”

Isani Cayetano

“In speaking with Prime Minister Briceño earlier, he made a remark to the extent, and I am only paraphrasing here, why would the previous administration, which you led as prime minister, grant a contract of this nature to a company that is not even registered in Belize? …to an overseas concern to handle this particular gaming contract.”

“But the contract wasn’t granted to an overseas concern.  The contract was granted to Brad’s Gaming Group Ltd., and my understanding is from my new client, Countach, is that they invested in Brad’s well after Brad’s Gaming Group Ltd. got the new contract in April, I think it was signed in June 2020 but it took effect from April 2020.  So Countash only in fact made their investment in Brads not just after the contract was given, but after the government had changed.  So the prime minister, again, is completely wide of the mark.”
