Man charged in fatal accident
Another Orange Walk man, thirty-three year old Vincent Crawford, has been charged in connection with a fatal traffic accident on the Northern Highway on Sunday. Crawford has been charged with theft and manslaughter following the death of eighteen year old Melissa Sutherland. According to twenty-four year old Frank Dawson, he and three other people were headed north on the highway between miles fifty-four and fifty-five in a jeep, when a Landrover suddenly drove in front of him resulting in the deadly crash. Sutherland, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was killed and the other passengers in the jeep sustained broken legs. The driver of the Landrover, Vincent Crawford, was hospitalized with facial injuries and when he was released on Thursday evening, the police were waiting for him. The theft charge is the result of a report made by Orange Walk resident Fernando Sosa that his Landrover, the same one that caused the accident had been stolen. Crawford will appear in the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to answer to the charges.
