Election date to be announced within two weeks

While the Prime Minister will take a break from domestic affairs and local politics for a few days, the country will at best have to wait for his return to find out the date for general elections. Constitutionally, the life of the current National Assembly expires on July fifteenth, but before he left for the airport, the Prime Minster said that the big announcement will be made before that date.

“We will inform the general public certainly in long enough time and I would expect certainly by the time the House is dissolved, at least simultaneously, there should be an announcement of the date of the election.”

The United Democratic Party has called a special conference for July twelfth at Bird’s Isle in Belize City, at which time the party’s manifesto will be launched.
