Orange Walk woman gang-raped

In crime news, police have reported the brutal attack of a young couple in the wee hours of Sunday morning in Orange Walk. A twenty one year old woman told police that she and eighteen year old Roberto Herbert were accosted as they drove along Price Avenue in Orange Walk Town by five men armed with machetes. The attackers reportedly forced the woman and her companion to an abandoned area located between the villages of Chan Pine Ridge and San Lazaro, where all five of them raped her. According to police, Herbert, a Salvadoran national, was badly beaten in the incident. The woman was reportedly locked in the trunk of the car and reports from Orange Walk say that an attempt was made to set the vehicle on fire. Fortunately for the woman, she managed to escape and made it to the police station where she reported her ordeal. When police visited the scene of the incident, they found Herbert, badly bruised, and took him to the Orange Walk Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition. He has since been transferred to Chetumal for further medical attention. The police are still looking for the five assailants.
