Emery Lino faces two charges of Aggravated Assault

A man who was charged with assaulting his ex, is back in court for a new assault charge committed on the same woman. Thirty year old Emery Lino allegedly committed the first aggravated assault on his twenty-five year old ex-common law wife Ursula Reid on November thirteenth, 2008. And today he was slapped with an additional charge for the same offence when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court. Lino pleaded not guilty to the charge of Aggravated Assault, but Magistrate Sharon Fraser could not offer him bail because of the nature of the offence and she remanded him into custody until March seventeenth. The latest incident occurred around three-thirty p.m. this past Thursday. Reid, who has two children for Lino, reported to police that she was in front of a pre-school on Pine Street when Lino rode up to her on a bicycle and put the nozzle of a small pistol at the back of her neck then rode away. Lino was also charged with Breaching a Protection Order at the Belize Family Court. After the first assault in November, Reid had obtained a protection order against Lino. The accused is to return to court on March sixteenth for the first aggravated assault charge.
