DVD store busted with 16lbs of marijuana

Story PictureAt about one-twenty p.m. on Thursday February twelfth, police executed a search warrant for drugs and firearms at Amelia’s DVD Store, located two miles on Northern Highway. The cops discovered three black plastic bags containing green leafy substances suspected to be cannabis in a suitcase and an additional six black plastic bags under the suitcase. The officers continued the search, this time of a white Geo Prism, which was parked in front of the store and in a black knapsack they found another plastic bag containing cannabis and one thousand five hundred and fifty-four dollars in cash, stashed inside the glove compartment. Thirty-seven year old William Leiva of Vernon Street and thirty-four year old Stephen Leiva, a taxi driver of Benbow Street in Belize City were both present at the time of the search. Both men were charged for Drug Trafficking. Stephen Leiva was additionally charged for possession of controlled drugs. The weight of all the drugs combined was sixteen point two pounds.
