More Conventions on the Way for the U.D.P.
We reported earlier on John Saldivar’s victory in Sunday’s Belmopan Convention. Well, according to U.D.P. Chairman Michael Peyrefitte, he is hopeful the remaining U.D.P. conventions will reflect the same kind of unity displayed among candidates on Sunday in Belmopan. This morning he told the hosts of Open Your Eyes that Sunday’s turnout is a clear indication that U.D.P. supporters are not listening to the negativity that shrouds certain members within the party. Here is what Peyrefitte had to say.
Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.
“Well, hopefully they will be the same. We fully expect that for the conventions that are coming up that they will approach it the same way that the Belmopan candidates did. I said yesterday that nobody talked about the fact that the Belmopan convention was a clean campaign. There was no negativity between the candidates and no negative vibes or no terrorist vibes between each of them. It was like; this is what we want to do. When we met last week Wednesday to discuss the details of what would happen yesterday it was nothing but love and a comrade and a commitment that whoever was not victorious would support the person who would win. So, it was an excellent time for us to start that healing process, despite what some people outside or inside the U.D.P. want to see. We have to start that healing process. We have to move forward and the people demonstrated yesterday and will continue to demonstrate that the negativity and bad vibes they are not with it. They want positivity and they want hope. So, we have to give the people that.”
